UA Professor of Composition builds crescendo of fans in Hacienda del Sol monthly music seminar
Tucson, Ariz. – University of Arizona Professor Daniel Asia continues his monthly discovery music series, exploring in depth stylistic elements of classical music in the ambient setting of Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort.
Continuing on June 28, 2009 – and on the last Sunday of every month through September – the accomplished composer Asia will entertain and educate aficionados with his inspired, yet informal, discussions surrounding classical music. Professor Asia’s June lecture will concentrate on the revered cello, a member of the violin family. Music aficionados will be inspired by Asia’s prolific knowledge; the composer’s major orchestral works include a cello concerto.
“Encountering great music opens us up to the mysteries of the universe, and connects us with something greater than ourselves,” said Asia, head of the Composition Department at the UA, “In our monthly session, we will explore a different piece or group of pieces. Expect to be challenged, delighted and entranced.”
One complimentary glass of wine is included in the entrance charge, along with a $10 certificate for dining at the Grill at Hacienda del Sol.
Hacienda del Sol and Asia together aim to create an intimate environment between piano and patron by delighting guests in the quaint Hacienda Room, located just off the side of the resort’s esteemed Grill at Hacienda del Sol restaurant.
Asia’s sessions will last for one hour, from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Hacienda del Sol will serve guests one complimentary glass of wine during the session. There is a $20.00 cover to attend the event, which also includes a $10.00 certificate for dinner at the Grill. Reservations are recommended, as seating is limited, and can be made by calling The Grill at 520.529.3500.
